Fry, Rene

Rene Elaine Fry, 82, of Parkville, MD passed away on September 10, 2025 at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, MD. Born November 23, 1942 in Carlisle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Hollenbach) Sholter. Beloved wife of David W. Fry.

She was a 1960 graduate of Boiling Springs High School, and proceeded to complete business college in Harrisburg, PA. She was very active in her community as a past President of the Hampstead Homemakers, a Scout Leader for the Hampstead/Manchester chapter of the Girl Scouts of America, a past President of the American Field Service at North Carroll High School, as well as a ballet costume mother for 10 years in Glyndon, MD. She proudly served as a Psychological and Medical Secretary for the Baltimore County School System for 20 years.

Rene was a woman of quiet strength and deep love, who found her greatest joy in her family. Her devotion to those she loved was unwavering, and her warmth created a home full of laughter, comfort, and care.

Known by many endearing nicknames-each one was a reflection of the closeness and affection to the people in her life.  She made everyone around her feel seen, loved, and uniquely cherished. She always made ordinary moments feel special.

Rene loved shopping, especially at yard sales.  Unique jewelry always caught her eye as she always expressed herself through her signature look of fancy earrings and bright colored lipstick.  They added sparkle to her style!

She loved to read, often getting lost in a good book, and found her deepest peace sitting in her rocking chair on her screened-in porch, bathed in sunlight and surrounded by the sounds of the world just outside.

An adventurous spirit, she also had a deep love of travel, exploring places near and far. Switzerland, Russia, Peru, Bolivia, and Thailand were some of her favorite places.  Rene also never shied away from the joy of camping with Dave, family and friends…under the stars and sitting around a fire in the woods, she welcomed life’s natural treasures. She could never wait to plan their next trip.

A gifted cook and talented seamstress, Rene shared her knowledge and passion generously with her daughters, passing on traditions that will live for generations to come. Her meals were never just food-they were acts of love. Her stitches told stories, sewn with patience and care.

Rene leaves behind a legacy rich in love, grace and simple joys. Her presence will be deeply missed and her memory forever treasured by all who knew and loved her.
