Roger Allen Zimmerman, 82, formerly of Cedar Falls, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. He was born in Cedar Falls on October 4, 1942, second son of Harley and Ethel (Young) Zimmerman.  Roger graduated from Waterloo West High School with the Class of 1960 and then entered the U.S. Army. Following an honorable discharge, Roger began working at John Deere and retired in 1995 after 31 years of service.  He married Jean Ann Spangler on February 26, 1966, in Cedar Falls.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Dawson Kerr.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Jean; 2 sons, Todd Zimmerman of Exeland, Wisconsin, and Troy (Amy) Zimmerman of Grimes; 2 daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Smith of Urbandale and Lori (Dan) Kerr of Johnston; 7 grandchildren: Paige, Lauren, Kailey (James), Tallie, Zachary, Makayla and Eleanor; 4 great-grandchildren: Lucas, Stella, Hunter and Jeremiah; brother, Ron (Terre) Zimmerman; and many beloved friends, neighbors and extended family members.

Roger’s Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the Worship Center at Nazareth Lutheran Church with Visitation prior from 9:30 until service time. Private family burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with funeral honors by AMVETS Post 49 and the U.S. Army Funeral Honors Detail. Luncheon will follow service. Roger was a member of the AMVETS Post 49 of Cedar Falls and the North Shore Boat Club. He enjoyed golfing, bike riding, playing cards and social time with family and friends.
