Litwiller, Carl

Carl Duane Litwiller 

Carl Duane Litwiller, age 85, of Sumner, Michigan went to his heavenly home on January 22, 2024 at Green Acres Assisted Living of Ionia.

 

Carl was born in New Haven Township on February 28, 1938, to Gladwin and Merita (Peters) Litwiller. Carl was married to Letha Joan Haynes on October 19, 1956. They shared forty- three years together until her passing in January 2000. Carl then married Rose Marie Hinton on January 7, 2001. They shared twenty- three years together.  Carl was a lifelong farmer along with his son and son-in-law. He loved working the land but also loved soaring through the air flying over and checking on crops. He enjoyed traveling and camping and spent many winters in Florida making life-long friendships. He was a man of few words with a big heart and determined spirit.

 

Left to cherish Carl’s memory are his wife of 23 years, Rose Marie; children Kirk (Yvonne) Litwiller, Karla Davis, Jantha (Joseph) Rosencrans, Brenda (Daniel) Maas, and William (Lisa) Hinton; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers Kenneth and Leonard Litwiller; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Eldon and Lynn Litwiller; and sister Onalee Putnam.

 

Visitation for Carl will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City, from 2 pm to 4 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 26 at 1 pm. Pastors Brian Ruth and Daniel Maas will be officiating. Carl will be laid to rest at the Hayes Road Cemetery in Ithaca. Those who wish may donate in Carl’s memory to Interim Hospice.

 

The family wants to give a special thanks to Laurels of Carson City and Green Acres Assisted Living of Ionia for the love and tender care that was provided to Carl Litwiller.
